Verizon is pushing out a new software update to the LG V40 ThinQ V405UA this week, only several days after sending out the Android 9.0 Pie for the Verizon LG V30!
The new software update released on Septemeber 16 arrives as software version V405UA20c, and it includes the August 2019 Security Patch.

How to install Software Update on Verizon LG V40 ThinQ
Most of the LG V40 ThinQ users have already installed the August 2019 security patch via OTA during the past several days.
If you have not received the OTA Update notification, You can download and install Software Upgrade Assistant OR LG Bridge.
Starting from September 28, Verizon LG V40 ThinQ users will be able to install the Update through LG Bridge.
Connected your phone to computer and runt the LG Bridge – which will check for software updates and initiate the software update process.
LG V40 ThinQ Stock kdz firmware – Android Pie
Today, LG official released the stock kdz firmware ( Android Pie Version V20c) for the Verizon Wireless LG V40 ThinQ.
Those who experience issues after the software update may use LGUP to unbrick/restore your LG V40 back to stock – which can fix almost all issues of your phone.

LG will remove the V405UA20c_00_VZW_US_OP_0730.kdz from its sever when LG plans to release a newer software update for the LG V40 ThinQ.
Please download it with XDM download manager as soon as possible as a backup.
For your information, The ARB (Anti-rollback) Version is still 00.
How to unbrick/restore LG V40 ThinQ back to stock
First, you need to download the latest stock kdz firmware for your LG V40 ThinQ from the above link or visit https://9to5lg.com/imei/ to download the firmware from LG official with IMEI.
Now you have everything ready, Run the LGUP software. If LG UP can find your phone, You will see the LGUP main screen. If LG UP cannot find your phone, you need to put your phone into download mode first and run the LGUP again.
From LGUP main screen, Select Upgrade or Refurbish
Click The Bin File select the kdz firmware for your phone.
Click Start to flash the firmware. Once it is 100% completed, Your phone will be restarted and back to life.
