Learn how to fully backup stock firmware for LG Tribute Empire LMX220PM.
You should back up the stock firmware/ROM before you do any modification on your LG Tribute Empire LMX220PM.
Like many other Sprint devices, The LG Tribute Empire LMX220PM supports Update OTA (Over-the-Air) Only. Sprint or LG does not provide the stock kdz firmware for LG Tribute Empire LMX220PM
Without the stock firmware, You will not be able to restore your LG Tribute Empire if you bricked it.
How to dump/backup LG Tribute Empire LMX220PM firmware
Step 1, Download and install LG USB Drivers
Step 2, Download and install LGUP Dev (Patched)
Unzip LGUP-Dev-1.14-patched.zip
Install LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3.msi first
Copy the files and folder in the patch folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP, overwrite the existing LGUP.exe
Step 3, Download LGUP DLL for LMX220PM
Rename LGUP_common[1.0.35.3]-X220PM.dll into LGUP_common.dll and copy it into the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\common
Now You Have everything ready, Run the LGUP, Put your phone into download mode and connect it to the computer.
On LG UP main screen, Select ‘DUMP”, Click start, From the popup Partition List, Select the System Partition only
Or You can Click Select all and then scroll down to uncheck the user’s partition.
Click ok to start the DUMP process.
How to restore/unbrick your LG Tribute Empire LMX220PM
After the DUMP process, You will have a file named system_com3 (In my case, LGUP use com port 3)
Please rename system_com3 to system.img.
Now, Run the LGUP, Select “Partition DL”, click BIN File or the three dots to select the system.img.
